MARANGU ROUTE FAQ

Common questions about climbing Kilimanjaro via Marangu Route

What are the huts like on Marangu Route?

Huts have bunk beds with foam mattresses. They are basic but comfortable. There are separate sleeping huts and dining huts where meals are served. Mandara Hut has 60 beds, Horombo Hut has 120 beds, and Kibo Hut has 60 beds.

Why is Marangu's success rate lower?

Many climbers choose the shorter 5-day itinerary with poor acclimatization. With our 6-day itinerary including an acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, success rates improve significantly. We strongly recommend the 6-day option.

Is Marangu easier than other routes?

Marangu is often perceived as easier due to hut accommodations, but the summit night is steep and challenging. The shorter duration means less acclimatization time. Proper preparation is still essential.

What's the best season for Marangu Route?

June-October (dry season) and December-February (shorter dry season) are ideal. March-May is rainy season with slippery trails. The huts provide shelter from rain.

What is the Marangu Route price?

Our 6-day Marangu Route package is $2,565 per person. This includes park fees, hut fees, guide, porters, meals, and transfers. Contact us for group discounts.
