Pick up from Moshi / Arusha

Our cultural guide will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a scenic drive towards the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Materuni Village & Waterfalls

Arrive at Materuni village, home of the Chaga people. Embark on a 45-minute guided hike through lush rainforest to the magnificent 80m Materuni Waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in the natural pool (optional).

Chaga Caves Exploration

Visit the ancient Chaga caves, used as hiding places during inter-tribal conflicts with the Maasai. Learn about the history, construction, and significance of these underground shelters.

Traditional Chaga Lunch

Enjoy a delicious traditional Chaga lunch prepared by local women. Savor authentic dishes like Machalari (banana stew), Mtori (meat and banana soup), and fresh local vegetables.

Coffee Making Experience

Participate in the traditional Chaga coffee-making process. From roasting and grinding to brewing, learn why Chaga coffee is celebrated across Tanzania. Enjoy the freshly brewed coffee with local snacks.

Cultural Performance & Departure

Watch traditional Chaga dances and songs performed by local groups. Learn about the Rika age-set system and other cultural practices before departing back to your hotel.
